FRIDAY 10th MAY 2024
SAD CAFE

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

Hi Everyone,

I have just had a call from the management of Sad Cafe informing that they have to cancel tomorrow night's (Friday 10th May) show at Ravenshead Village Hall. The singer, Barry has had a seizure earlier today and has been rushed to hospital in Holland. This is something you just can't imagine and i hope you all will wish him well as we do. They indicated that a new date could be arranged but obviously that is down to how well Barry progresses. We will be in touch again when we know more, in the meantime anyone requesting a refund will be reimbursed.

Kind Regards,

Robert

The band that brought you the great Everyday Hurts (#3 on the UK charts), My Oh My, Strange Little Girl, Black Rose and I'm in Love Again along with the big U.S. hits La-Di-Da and Run Home Girl, is now being led by long time bassist Des Tong.

The band features vocalist Barry James Thomas, Dave Day lead guitar/vocals, Matt Steele keyboards, Neil Shaw-Hulme, sax/vocals and Steve Gibson on drums.

Always a challenge to replace their late lead singer Paul Young (also Mike and the Mechanics), who tragically died in 2000, they have finally found the perfect voice in Barry James Thomas, and now press on to a new era with a show which brings together the great hits of the past with the matured and excellent musicianship of the present.

Sad Café fans have warmly and enthusiastically embraced the current line up as the shows continue to bring new and existing fans together to share their love for this incredible band and their music.

THE SOUNDS OF SIMON
THE MUSIC OF SIMON & GARFUNKEL

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

As seen on BBC's The One Show!

The Sounds of Simon is a tribute to the wonderful music of Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, through the years as Simon and Garfunkel, to the successes of both their solo careers.

Explore the friendship that led to songs such as Mrs Robinson, The Sounds of Silence and of course, Bridge Over Troubled Water. The full band will also take you through the pair's solo careers, with songs such as You Can Call Me Al, Graceland, and Art's smash hit, Bright Eyes.

Paul and Art are played to perfection, bringing in elements of their famously fractious relationship, as well as replicating the beautiful harmonies flawlessly. With video clips, stories, and memories from the last 50+ years, this is a wonderful show filled with excellent music, nostalgia, and a genuine love for some great musicians.

This is the UK's longest running tribute to Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Come and see why!

STAYIN' ALIVE

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

Re-introducing 'Stayin' Alive', the UK's dazzling new number one tribute to the Bee Gees!

In the spirit of the timeless anthem 'Stayin' Alive', our tribute band has not only survived but thrived through recent changes, including the retirement of a founding member and the departure of another for a solo journey akin to embarking on a 'Lonely Days' adventure. Despite these shifts, the harmony has never been stronger, and the legacy of the Bee Gees continues with a fresh, invigorating lineup.

Their successful debut show last weekend was nothing short of a 'Night Fever' revival, igniting the stage with all the fervour of the disco era that the Bee Gees so famously encapsulated. With our trio of new talents, we are set to bring this revitalised energy to venues across the UK and beyond, promising an experience that goes beyond mere performance to become a celebration of an era.

This new production features a state-of-the-art PA and lighting system, the energy and dance moves of the disco era, along with dazzling new costume changes and the one hour or two forty-five-minute spot show offers a journey through the Bee Gees' most iconic hits. From the soulful plea of 'How Deep Is Your Love' to the infectious rhythms of 'You Should Be Dancing', this brand new show captures not just the sound but the spirit of the brothers Gibb.

Whether you're a lifelong fan or discovering the magic of the Bee Gees for the first time, this tribute is designed to ensure that every attendee leaves with a song in their heart and a swing in their step. The atmosphere of Stayin' Alive's brand new shows is electric, guaranteeing that your dance floor will be packed from the very start until the final note fades.

Mick Miller has had a long and successful career stretching over 40 years.

He first came to prominence on the iconic ITV show The Comedians along with great British TV favourites Roy Walker and Stan Boardman. He also made guest appearances on 3, 2, 1, Seaside Special, and Blankety Blank (with his good friend Les Dawson). Live theatre tours and summer season shows followed.

In the 1980s Mick co-hosted his own Saturday evening show on ITV called The Funny Side along with Cheryl Baker and the late Mike Smith. Since then he has been in constant demand on the theatre circuit, working throughout the UK and in global venues.

Mick continues to be a favourite on cruises, and has had the pleasure of working with Cunard, Fred Olsen, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Saga, and many more.

Mick has used his comedy talent and timing to land several acting roles. He has appeared in IDEAL with Johnny Vegas, and Peter Kay's Car Share. He fulfilled a lifetime ambition to work in Las Vegas when he was chosen to be part of the major ITV series Last Laugh in Vegas.

Mick now works regularly in comedy clubs, and plays to young audiences. He is well respected by the younger generation of comedians. From his beginnings as a shiny shoed, frilly shirted, bow tied comedian in a dinner suit to working in the coolest of comedy clubs, this goes to prove that old's cool.

THE RAGDOLLS

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

The Ragdolls are undoubtedly Europe's Premier Frankie Valli Tribute Show established in 2009.

Nominees and Winners of the best Frankie Valli Tribute Act for 2014, 2015 and 2016, they are sure to make your evening unforgettable.

They have performed at prestigious events for clients such as Lord Spencer, The Royal Family, Claridges, The BBC and the ever popular Butlins and Warner Holiday Parks. They have also been pleasing crowds in theatres across Europe including The National Concert Hall in Dublin, The Cork Opera House, Gleneagles and most recently Annabel's Private Members Club in Mayfair which regularly plays host to a wide variety of celebrities.

They have worked with one of Irelands top show producers, Pat Egan, who has been linked to many great artists over the years, including the great man himself, Frankie Valli.

The Ragdolls will take you on a musical journey through the sounds of one of the most successful bands of all time. Classic songs such as "Sherry", "Walk like a Man", "Oh what a Night" and many more will fill your night with enjoyment.

During the first half of the show they perfectly recreate the iconic sounds of the "Four Seasons" taking you back to where it all began, performing the classic 50's songs as the "Four Seasons" once did. Hits include "Still of the Night", "Oh Carol", "Teenager in Love" and "Why do Fools Fall in Love".

With slick choreography and the recognisable falsetto this really sets the scene for a great night.

Acoustic versions of songs are a highlight in this part of the show, which demonstrates the diversity and harmonic sounds as once done by the great band themselves. By the end of the first half you will definitely be "Hanging on" to your seats and "Beggin'" for more.

The second half of the show is truly party time, where all the famous hits come out such as "Can't Take my Eyes off of You", "Let's Hang on", "Ragdoll", "Grease", "Working my Way Back to You" and many more... This is the part when you can take to the dance floor and join in the party.

NELL BRYDEN

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

Native New Yorker Nell Bryden grew up in a bohemian artist's loft in Brooklyn, her mother a classical soprano and her father an oil painter. She got her singer songwriter start in the folk clubs of Boston before moving back to try to conquer her hometown. When the Big Apple chewed her up and spat her out, she spent a decade in London honing her craft, touring Europe extensively, playing upwards of 250 shows a year.

Having released her debut album What Does It Take in 2009 under her own record label, she became known as a BBC Radio 2 darling, and went on to enjoy 21 consecutive play-listed singles — a record-breaker even for major label artists. Her song about her experience in 9/11, called Sirens, from her second album Shake The Tree, was covered by Cher. Known as an artist who's at home on stage, she's supported Gary Barlow, Chris Rea, Counting Crows, KT Tunstall, and Duane Eddy, among others, and played numerous festivals including CarFest, V Festival, and Proms In The Park.

Nell has released seven studio albums, as well as The Collection in 2020, an anthology of her 21 radio singles. The latest album Arms Around The Flame was released in 2022. She lives in New York with her two dogs and a cat that inadvertently feature in her home studio recordings, notably her remote performance with the BBC Concert Orchestra during the Coronavirus lockdown, for Ken Bruce's House Music Sessions.

THE E.L.O. ENCOUNTER
!SOLD OUT!

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

Roll over Beethoven, because the greatest tribute to Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra is here! In an all live show featuring soaring strings, striking vocal harmonies and playing all the much loved songs from ELO's hit-filled library including Evil Woman, Telephone Line and Don't Bring Me Down.

The ELO Encounter tribute band promises a night filled with rock, roll and Blue Skies that would make even Mozart mambo and Bach boogie! So Hold On Tight because Rock and Roll Is King in a show that is guaranteed to have you partying All Over The World.

As a recent reviewer remarked, "Not really a tribute, that cheapens what this band do, which is to transport you back to those days. So sensitively and authentically done, at times it felt like it was actually ELO being mirrored up there on the stage".

That's what The ELO Encounter tribute show is all about.

MARMALADE
Plus Special Guest

DOORS OPEN 7.15PM - SHOW STARTS 8.15PM

Ladies and Gentlemen, hold on to your seats and brace yourselves for the ultimate rock and roll extravaganza! The legendary band, Marmalade, are back and they're ready to rock Ravenshead Village Hall like never before!

In what can only be described as a momentous occasion, this will be the umpteenth time that Marmalade has played at the Ravenshead Village Hall! We're pretty sure that even the hall's walls are starting to hum along to their greatest hits by now.

So what can you expect from the show? Well, for starters, the band members may be getting on in years, but their rock and roll spirit is as youthful as ever. Their classic hits like Reflections of My Life, Rainbow, and Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da are guaranteed to have you dancing in the aisles. And if you're not a dancer, well, that's just too bad because this band's energy is contagious.

Not only that, but the band members themselves are quite the characters. Rumor has it that Sandy Newman hasn't aged a day since the 70s.

So if you're looking for a night of fun, laughter, and rock and roll nostalgia, make sure to book your tickets for Marmalade's show at Ravenshead Village Hall in December. It's going to be a night you won't forget!
